Block Printing Holiday Cards Workshop with Kathie-Louise Clarke

Join printmaker and poet Kathie-Louise Clarke in creating hand block printed holiday cards.

In this three hour class you will explore a variety of card designs and create your own unique image, learn to carve linoleum and then print about 8-10 cards on high quality card-stock.

At the end you will take your block and any cards you make home.

Materials to Bring: An apron if you wish, or just wear clothes you can wash easily

Workshop Fee: $150 (includes all materials)

Date & Time: Sunday, November 12th from 2pm-5pm

Location: Honey Honey Studio @ 3030 Ashby Ave, Berkeley.

Artist’s Bio:
Kathie-Louise Clarke is a British raised artist and poet living in Oakland, California. She has created throughout her life and is inspired by the human condition, with a focus on love, loss and the beauty of the natural world. Having published poems under the name Kathie-Louise Clarke, she is also the artist behind Persephone Print.

Hi there!
When my dear childhood friend invited me over to play about in her new print studio, I had no idea that I would be embarking on an obsessive but joyful journey into the world of printmaking. The process of transferring creative thought to paper, to linoleum, and then carving the block is a labor of love. The excitement of pulling the first print… and the next twenty is hard to beat. There is beauty in the imperfection, challenge in letting that ‘blemish’ stand and marvel in the few that come out just the way I imagined! Self-taught, I mainly make frameable relief prints, sometimes inspired by the poems I write, but also create greeting cards, notebooks and other small items.

I am so happy to share my love of this art form and look forward to encouraging the latent creativity in others to shine.
