Alysia Mazzella

Alysia Mazzella is a traditional beeswax candlemaker based in upstate New York. Her work creatively reflects on time honored candles that offer an intentional burn, the role of the firekeeper, and a regenerative relationship with the honey bee. Why Beeswax? Its luminous, hypoallergenic, naturally scented and sustainable when locally sourced. Beeswax is an anti- microbial material that burns at a slower rate because of it’s inherent density. Beeswax candles purify the air by absorbing or neutralizing airborne allergens.

Beeswax provides a bright and soothing light like the sun. In fact, ancient Egyptian legend says bees were born from the tears of the sun god.

These candles have long been favored for sacred timekeeping and as a symbol of the eternal light.
